Legionella

Legionella bacteria can grow in water systems, and in rare cases can cause Legionnaires’ disease, a serious form of pneumonia. Landlords have a legal duty to assess and control the risk of exposure to legionella for their tenants. Pure Residential arranges a legionella risk assessment for landlords in Keighley and across West Yorkshire.

What is a legionella risk assessment?

A risk assessment looks at the water systems in your property, such as tanks, pipework, showers and infrequently used outlets, and identifies anything that could allow bacteria to grow. In many ordinary rented homes the risk is low and the controls are simple, but it should still be assessed and recorded.

How we can help

  • Arranging a legionella risk assessment for your rental property
  • Advising on simple control measures, such as flushing little-used outlets and keeping water at safe temperatures
  • Keeping a record of the assessment on file for your property
  • Arranging reviews when the property or its water system changes or when tenants change
